For a screw jack mostly we use square threads. Can we use V-threads for a screw jack?

We do not use V-threads in screw jacks. V-threads have lesser load bearing capacity and greater frictional resistance when compared to square threads. If V-threads are used in screw jacks, lifting load will require a great deal of effort. It may even result in failure of the screw.

    Hi,

I posted some calculations regarding a “Scissor Jack” (square threads). It took a day or two to write and post. Perhaps of interest to you (and not in violation of rules).
